William Angliss Institute has a series of buildings at our Melbourne campus ranging in age from 10 to 70 years. The Better TAFE Facilities Project will allow the fast tracking of current maintenance needs for these buildings as well as provide more up-to date-facilities for staff and students.

As part of the project, the following upgrades will or have taken place;
- Installations of a New Water Clarifier as part of the continuous upgrade of our current equipment that will ensure continuing hot water supply into the future.
- Insulation of the Institutes hot water and steam lines to help reduce the greenhouse footprint of the Institute, conserve energy and reduce heat related wear and tear on plant and equipment
- Plant Room Efficiencies will mean the decommissioning and removal of obsolete equipment as part of the ongoing modernisation program. This includes the upgrade of Mechanical Services Switchboards, Efficient Steam Boilers and Chiller pumps.
- Replacing external tiles on the exterior of Building A as part of the Institute beautification and re-imaging program
- Replacement of the chairs in the Learning Resource Centre with new ergonomic chairs as well as the replacement of the carpet throughout the Library area
- The replacement and upgrade of the Auto-Doors located on the ground and first floors of Building C
- The replacement of the roof sheeting on Building D North with new colour bond steel sheeting and the replacement of bitumen sealed roofing to Building D West.
- A secure Bicycle enclosure for staff use, to cater for the growing number of staff wishing to ride to work.
These maintenance items will update the facilities and enhance capacity, specifically in relation to hot water/power supply to trade classrooms, in particular, cookery, patisserie and bakery. This project is funded by the Australian Government through the Teaching and Learning Capital Fund (TLCF) for Vocational Education and Training (VET).
