Angliss Spa has won the Best Spa Education Institute - Certificate/ Diploma at the Australasian Spa Association (ASpa) Awards of Excellence 2014 for the third consecutive year.

The ASpa awards recognise and reward outstanding quality, creativity and service delivery in the spa, health and wellness industry.

The Awards winners were announced at the conclusion of the Annual ASpa Conference at the Langham Hotel in Melbourne.

William Angliss Institute program leader resorts Carolyn Neilsen said the Angliss Training Spa staff deserved the industry recognition.

“We believe our students have an edge because of the high standard of practical training our courses provide.

“Our students attend ‘famils’ off-site at Aurora Spa. These visits provide students with a chance to familiarise themselves with a Spa and Wellness environment and to learn new skills in a ‘real world’ setting,” Carolyn said.

Students also undertake work experience via a practical placement program which gives them insight about the Spa and Wellness/Beauty industry, allows them to meet qualified therapists and provides them with the opportunity to be involved in a ‘hands on’ approach to participate within an industry setting.

William Angliss Institute’s custom-built training spa has been operational for the past eighteen months working in partnership with Aurora Spa to provide quality training for its spa courses.

The Spa has three private treatment rooms that can be used either as a single or double room, one large divisible training room that has the capacity to comfortably facilitate four treatments simultaneously, a dedicated nail and make-up training room and a spacious retail shop.

The Institute offers a Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy which is delivered concurrently with a Diploma of Holiday Parks and Resorts (two qualifications) with course outcomes that seek to provide career pathways for students to work as Resort and Spa Managers.

The Institute will also offer a Diploma of Beauty Therapy (commencing in 2015) and a Certificate II in Retail Make-up and Skincare will also commence in 2015 tailored towards VET and VCAL students.

The Institute has also established several additional industry partnerships to facilitate practical placement for students, which include, The Park Club Health & Day Spa – Park Hyatt Hotel, Endota Day Spa - Hampton, Norbu Urban Retreat – The Olsen, Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa, and Eforea Spa – The Hilton Hotel.
