A future William Angliss Institute student, Jodie Burton, and Tom Hudson will cycle 17,000km from London to Melbourne to support two children’s charities in what will surely be a life-changing experience. The pair will begin their incredible journey on 1 May and expect to reach Melbourne just in time for the commencement of Jodie’s Resort Management course at William Angliss Institute, in July 2011.
Inspired after reading The Crossing by Ben Fogle and James Cracknell, Jodie and Tom made a decision to realise their dream and travel to Melbourne by the use of pushbikes, travelling by boat only when necessary. As well as realising their own dream, the pair wish to help the dreams of less fortunate children become a reality by fundraising for UK-based charity Rays of Sunshine and Australian-based charity David Bland. Jodie and Tom are inviting donations to the charities via their website, http://www.pushbikediaries.com where their progress across the globe can be tracked.
