Application Process

There are three main pathways into a course at the Institute.

  • applications through VTAC (Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre)
  • application direct to William Angliss
  • application through an AAC (Australian Apprenticeship Centre) apprentice and trainees only

Depending on the course and the time of year you want to commence your course will determine the application process you need to take.

The general guidelines are as follows:

February Commencement

  • Certificate I, II, III and some minor Certificate IV courses – send your application direct to the Institute
  • Certificate IV (main courses only), Diploma, Advanced Diploma and Degree courses – submit your application to VTAC

Mid Year commencement

  • Applications are to be submitted to the Institute for all courses

Course entrance requirements and selection criteria will vary depending on the course you're applying for. Entrance requirements may consist of a minimum of year 10 or 12. Selection criteria may include an ENTER score, interview, and pre-selection form. Use the course finder to discover each course's requirements and selection criteria.

VTAC Applications

Some courses offered at William Angliss Institute require application through VTAC. Alternatively you can obtain a VTAC Guide for 2010 from any newsagency or through the VTAC website.

If you're applying for a course through VTAC, you'll need to attend an interview session at William Angliss Institute.

If you are applying for a course that requires an application through VTC, you will need to follow this process; any applications received directly to the Institute will be redirected back through to VTC.

Once you have made your application you will need to look up the additional requirements for your course which will require you to complete one or more of the following:
Pre selection form (click to download)
Interview (click for process)

In January of each year the Institute will select students through VTC based on individual course entry requirement. Course entry requirements can be viewed from our course guide (click here) or search to the course finder for individual course information (click here).

Students will be notified via TAC of their course acceptance which will also include information on when you need to enrol.

Direct Applications

All applications for mid-year places and some February places must be made directly to the Institute using the Direct Application Form. The closing date for mid-year applications will be in May, but check our website closer to the time for the exact closing dates for each course. When we receive your application, you will be notified of your interview date.

And the course requirements you will need to complete. Once an application is received, an acknowledgement letter will be forwarded to you and your application will be assessed against the course requirements and availability within the course, and you will receive written correspondence of your acceptance which will include your enrolment information.

International Applications

If you are not an Australian citizen or permanent resident, please visit the International Applications section.

Apprenticeships and Traineeships

You will need to be employed as an Apprentice or Trainee prior to applying for a course at William Angliss Institute. The Australian Apprenticeship Centre (AAC) can help you find an employer and provide information on how to become an apprentice or trainee. Visit the AAC website.
