"It was a nice experience to work as part of a big team"

How I landed my current job
My first job after graduating was Event Sales Coordinator at Peter Roland, where I was doing a lot of Front of House and working on major events and I have since received a promotion to my current job.

What I love about my job
I love the whole event experience. Dealing with clients and seeing all the work come together on one event.

Most memorable study experience
In the last semester of Event Management you get to take on your own event. You are able to work in a group setting with friends, and people you haven't worked with before. It was a nice experience to work as part of a big team, get the event out and make it successful.

Biggest hurdle and how I triumphed
I did an event the other night that was a dinner for 750 people. This was one of the biggest sit-down dinners I have received since starting my role. I worked hard to make sure all aspects were covered and that the process was smooth.

What the future holds
I would like to be living and working in New York City for an event management company. I am inspired by the events of Americans Preston Bailey and Colin Cowie and would love to work on these types of projects.

Words of wisdom
Get involved and get experience at the major events in Melbourne while you are studying. You need to start at the bottom and work your way up. You have to accept that you won't graduate and walk into an illustrious event management career without hands on experience.
