Students at William Angliss Institute learn in a professional but enjoyable environment. Training facilities and resources are specialised for many facets of the hospitality, tourism and foods industries. There are also a number of student services to support you while studying. William Angliss Institute maintains a program of continually upgrading of student facilities.
You'll find plenty of flexibility in the way courses are delivered; from hands-on classes to field trips and virtual classrooms depending on the course you undertake. Assessment methods vary across courses too. For example, you may need to submit written assignments, make presentations, undertake exams, attend and report on field trips or demonstrate your capabilities through skill-based demonstrations.
Recognition of Prior Learning
If you have prior experience or qualifications, you may be eligible for exemptions if they can be offered in semester blocks. This is to ensure you maintain a full course loading as required under the conditions of your student visa. See the Recognition of Prior Learning and Credit Transfers page for more details.
Deferring your studies
Once you have enrolled in a course you are not permitted to defer commencement of your studies or suspend your studies except in certain circumstances. Deferment may be granted under certain circumstances and the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) will be notified if you defer your studies.
Change of Institution /Provider
New legislation from 1 July 2007 regulating the provision of education to onshore international students has taken effect.
The new Standard 7 of the National Code 2007 is part of the ESOS Act. Students are restricted from transferring to another Australian education provider if they have not yet completed six calendar months of study in their principal program (If you are here to study a single program, that program is the principal program. If you are here to study more than one program, the principal program is the final program of a packaged offer.) Therefore, if you are currently studying in Australia for less than six months of the principal program, William Angliss Institute can only accept you into our course if the original registered provider has provided you a written letter of release.
For current international students at William Angliss Institute, the Institute will only consider issuing a release letter under compassionate or compelling circumstances (please refer to the policy).
However, you have the right to lodge an appeal against this decision. You must lodge an appeal in writing with the Director, International Services, within 20 working days. Whether you choose to lodge an appeal or not, you must remain enrolled and attend all classes as normal until the process is complete.
If you have completed six months of the principal course at William Angliss Institute and decide to change institution, you must notify the Angliss International Education Office of your intention to move to another Institution within seven days of issue of an COE by your new education provider.
