William Angliss Institute is proud to announce two new scholarships and bursaries as part of the William Angliss Institute Foundation – an initiative established to help the Institute provide educational opportunities and financial assistance to support students in achieving their career ambitions.
Foundation of learning opportunities
The Sir William Angliss Scholarship for Tourism & Hospitality furthers the legacy of Sir William Angliss, entrepreneur and founder of the specialist centre for foods, tourism and hospitality. It offers two scholarships of up to $5,000 each per year to domestic students commencing or continuing studies in the fields of hospitality or tourism which supports skill development, education, uniforms and equipment."
The new program for the Foundation builds on William Angliss Institute's commitment to the community, whilst supporting educational excellence in the industries we are passionate about – foods, tourism and hospitality," says Nicholas Hunt, CEO of William Anlgiss Institute and Chair of the William Angliss Insitutute Foundation Governance Committee.
In addition to the scholarship, a new Memorial Fund sees the allocation of two bursaries per year named in memory of two international students who tragically lost their lives during Victoria's Black Saturday bushfires in February 2009. Eligibility requires applicants to be currently enrolled in full-time study at William Angliss Institute, and holding an international passport.
"The financial awards will go a long way for the recipients, allowing them to benefit from the Institute's educational expertise and the support services available to all students," continues Mr Hunt.
"To be able to promote education in these vocations at the same time as honouring the legacies of the Institute's founder and past students is a true priveledge."
The Foundation is built on the generous support of the Institute's many friends and industry partners, with the Memorial Fund benefitting from seed funding from both Skills Victoria and William Angliss Institute. Funding for the domestic Scholarship has been generously provided by the Sir William Angliss Charitable Fund.
