Angliss student cooks on Plate of Origin

Angliss student Thanh Truong, who is studying his Master of Food Systems and Gastronomy, is representing Vietnam on Channel Seven’s Plate of Origin.

Thanh has been completing his Master’s degree at William Angliss Institute and saw the opportunity to showcase real Vietnamese food on this show.

“I applied for Plate of Origin because I wanted to show that Vietnamese food is more than Pho and Spring rolls and that the array of fruits and vegetables used in Vietnamese cuisine is to be celebrated!

“It was an amazing experience with a really diverse, talented and passionate cast of cooks. Cooking during ISO for TV made things extremely difficult but everyone was in the same boat. Even though we fiercely competed, we bonded at the dinner table eating each others cuisines and discussed all things food,”Thanh said.

Thanh said his course has helped him on the show and also to get closer to his dream of being a food authority in fresh produce.

“Through the course I have developed my food voice, allowing me to better articulate and communicate my thoughts and feelings around food. I equally can’t wait to see the cooking as much as the eating and deliberating! Let the flames begin!” he said.
