The Institute’s Education Quality Management System represents a planned, evidence-based, ongoing process aimed at ensuring quality and improving outcomes for students, clients and stakeholders; achieving the Institute’s mission; and providing a platform for future development, meeting future workforce needs and maintaining the Institute’s place as a specialist centre for education and training in tourism, hospitality and the culinary arts. Education quality is administered by a dedicated Quality Manager.

As part of its registration requirements, William Angliss Institute is required to demonstrate compliance with the Australian Quality Framework including the Standards for Registered Training Organisations 2015

The 2016 Registering Body Report indicators are based on a survey of 1142 students and 150 employers. This sample represents 22% per cent of this organisation’s training delivery completions in the 2016 calendar year. The students and employers surveyed for these indicators were selected by this organisation in accordance with national guidelines’.

Education Quality Management at William Angliss Institute (WAI) extends across all aspects of its activities and performance.

The Institute’s approach to education quality is built around three principles.

3QM Process

Through its Quality Assurance activities the Institute ensures that all education quality requirements are met.

Through its Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) processes the Institute is systematically reviewing its educational activities and identifying improvements

Through Quality leadership the Institute is moving beyond compliance and continuous quality improvement to a space where it is aiming to set benchmarks and levels of excellence to which others will aspire.

Key activities –

1. Quality Assurance
  • communication plans that outline who is responsible and accountable for managing key quality assurance activities and what is required to demonstrate quality as per the Standards for Registered Training Organisations 2015 (ASQA); the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA); the Tertiary Education Quality Standards Agency (TEQSA) requirements for Higher Education providers; the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) which provides an agreed framework for designing, developing and issuing recognised qualifications; the Educational Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act; and relevant offshore jurisdictional quality requirements;
  • education quality management processes (incorporating systematic monitoring and evaluation) that will satisfy quality standards and legislative compliance with Standards for Registered Training Organisations 2015 (ASQA); the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA); the Tertiary Education Quality Standards Agency (TEQSA) requirements for Higher Education providers; the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) which provides an agreed framework for designing, developing and issuing recognised qualifications; the Educational Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act; and relevant offshore jurisdictional quality requirements;
  • an agreed audit schedule and tool that will enable the Institute to systematically review its courses and educational activities.

2. Continuous Quality Improvement

  • planned and managed processes that provide continuous quality improvement in operational activities, student services, research, teaching and learning, community relations, external partnerships and industry engagement;
  • a risk management regime that evaluates risks, consequences and the possible impact of poor quality in respect of the Institute’s operational activities, student services, research, teaching and learning, community relations, brand perception, external partnerships and industry engagement.
3. Quality Leadership
  • the development of new technologies, innovative pedagogies, and academically rigorous and vocationally-relevant curricula that reflect contemporary discipline-based debate and current and emerging industry needs;
  • industry and stakeholder engagement and partnerships that will facilitate innovation and contemporary thought and practice
  • teaching staff committed to the continuous improvement of their educational programs and practice.
