Marriott International interviews Angliss Students

Hosted by the Skills and Jobs Centre alongside Student Services, the Marriott Job Fair 2024 unlocked an exclusive opportunity for William Angliss Institute students and Alumni to showcase their potential and discover various roles in the hotel industry.

The in-person event welcomed renowned names from the Marriott portfolio, including The Ritz-Carlton, W Melbourne, The Westin, Sheraton, LeMéridien, Element Richmond, Courtyard, Docklands, AC Southbank and Melbourne Marriott.

With Human Resource Managers from all 10 Melbourne-based Marriott hotels on site and nearly 200 student registrations, students were armed with copies of their resumes, ready to interview and make connections with employers on the spot.

Human Resource Manager at Le Méridien, Merideth Appleyard said about the opportunity: “It was great to see so many students keen to begin their careers with Marriott International. Angliss has some amazingly passionate students and it was wonderful getting to know each and every one of them. They are a very talented bunch and hopefully we will be able to bring some into the Le Méridien family soon.”

To assist with preparation for the event, students were part of those invited to attend a Resume, Cover Letter and Interview skill webinar in the lead up to the job fair. Tips on best practice were shared in these sessions to support students with ways to stand out and confidently present their strengths knowing that their documents and interview skills were ready to make a great first impression with present industry partner.

“It was great to see such a huge turnout of students, dressed professionally and eager to interview with Marriott,” said Emma, Career Counsellor at the William Angliss Institute Skills and Jobs Centre. “How often do you get to speak with those who are in charge of hiring staff for a major hotel chain, all in the one room,” she continued.

For students who are always looking for different ways to learn and connect with like-minded people in the foods, hospitality, tourism and events industries, stay up to date with Careers & Employment opportunities to learn more about upcoming career events.
