Free Apprenticeships for Under 25s

The Queensland Government will cover the cost of your training with a training provider when you choose a high priority apprenticeship or traineeship. Just choose the qualification you want, land an apprenticeship or traineeship with an employer and we'll cover the cost of you training. Your employer will pay your wages, and you might have to meet costs related to any uniform or other training resources.

If you're under 25, you're in. Find an employer and get started in an apprenticeship or traineeship in one of the 139 priority qualifications. You must commence, or be undertaking, your training between 1 January 2021 and 31 December 2024 to qualify.

The William Angliss Institute in Queensland offer the below courses for the free apprenticeships for under 25's.

Hospitality and cookery

  • Certificate III in Catering Operations - Apprenticeship
  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery - Apprenticeship

Meat and food processing

  • Certificate III in Meat Processing (Retail Butcher) - Apprenticeship

Am I eligible?

If you're under 25, you're in. Free apprenticeships for under 25s will cover the cost of training for apprentices and trainees who commence or are undertaking a priority apprenticeship or traineeship qualification, as listed above from 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2024.

You must not currently be claiming funding under the Free apprenticeships for under 21s initiative.

Fee-free training will only apply for units or modules commenced on or after 1 January 2021 and you must be employed as an apprentice under a training contract in one of the priority qualifications.

What's free?

Free means the Queensland Government will cover the full cost of training in the listed priority qualifications, so eligible students don't contribute to training fees.

However, apprentices and trainees, you might have to meet costs related to any uniform or other training resources.
