Brilliant careers on show at expo

Earlier this week, 400 Angliss students and graduates attended the annual Careers and Employment Expo held at our Melbourne Campus.

Careers and Employment Expo 2019

An opportunity for students to meet industry representatives, explore career pathways and apply for jobs, the Expo was attended by 28 exhibitors from the foods, hospitality, tourism, events and hotel management industries.

Employers in attendance included Altara, Peter Rowland, Lucas Restaurants, Sand Hill Road, The Big Group, Marriott International, TFE Hotels, and the Young Tourism Network.

In preparation for the Expo, students were asked to update their resumes, research potential employers and formulate questions to ask them. They were also advised to practise their elevator pitch and their handshake.

Elysia Corallo, Student Opportunities Coordinator for William Angliss Institute, was on site at the event.

"It was encouraging to see so many students participating in our biggest annual careers event and gaining insight into the many and varied employment opportunities available to them," she said.

Grill'd Healthy Burgers and Australian chocolatier Koko Black, which provide ongoing training opportunities to Angliss students, both exhibited at the Expo.

"It is important for Koko Black to have a presence at the Careers Expo so that we can grow our business by employing skilled labour from William Angliss Institute," said Rachelle Greer, Head of Human Resources for Koko Black.

"We are also keen to understand from the students how they see the world of work and what they look for in employers."

The event was proudly sponsored by Hostplus, an Industry Super Fund for hospitality, tourism, recreation and sport.
