Victorian Training Awards – Thank You and Fingers Crossed for a Win!

Ahead of the Victorian Training Awards Gala this Saturday evening, 16 October, William Angliss Institute would like to thank all our partners, staff and students for working with us to ensure our continued success.

The Institute has been named as a finalist for the Large Training Provider of the Year and we are very proud of the efforts of everyone in getting us to this point of continued educational excellence. The Institute has operated for over 80 years but there’s never been a time with so much change occurring so rapidly.

The Awards recognise and celebrate the outstanding achievements of individuals, employers and training providers in Victoria’s TAFE and training sector. The Large Training Provider category recognises a training provider that offers a broad range of training products and services and demonstrates excellence and high-level performance in all aspects of the TAFE and training sector.

This is not the first time we have been a finalist in the category and we have won the award in the past, but this year – reflecting on the year that was – the recognition of our achievements seems sweeter.

The Institute is a specialist centre for experience industries – foods, tourism, hospitality and events. These are industries that have felt the impacts of COVID-19 more than most, yet the passion from students, teachers and industry assure there is a bright future ahead.

We thank our students for their adaptability to remote learning, and the trainers who supported the students. Our student services team also improved wellbeing services and adapted career and employment opportunities. In addition to speed networking events and the Angliss Careers and Employment Expo, the team also hosted dedicated recruitment days for Disney and Altara with many students being employed directly as a result.

Our industry partners deserve special thanks. ‘Business as usual’ was not a phrase used by anyone yet we had over 100 guest lecturers from industry attend remote classes, offering insights and highlighting what the future looks like for graduates. We had organisations support students financially through our scholarship program, and with opportunities for work experience. Some partners worked with our trainers so students could work on real-world problems and devise solutions for real clients.

To all our partners, thank you for your continued support, and the opportunities you share with our students. It is the relationship we have with you that helps us create future industry leaders.

Our staff, leadership teams and Board are behind the continuation of educational excellence for which we have earned our place as a finalist.  As a specialist centre, the Institute is tasked with leading training in foods, tourism, hospitality and events, and anticipating future needs.

Through the pandemic, the Institute has continued to develop its programs, offering additional courses and upgrading training facilities to ensure we offer students the best learning, while delivering industry the best graduates.

We congratulate all the nominees on their effort and would like to congratulate all the Victorian Training awards finalists for their excellence in training. It’s certainly worth celebrating!

The gala ceremony will be hosted online this Saturday from 7pm. Be sure to follow the results of the Victorian Training Awards ceremony on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn
