William Angliss Institute Excels at THE-ICE IPoE Forum 2025

William Angliss Institute has shone on the global stage at the Gala Dinner of The International Centre of Excellence in Tourism and Hospitality Education (THE-ICE) 18th IPoE Forum 2025, hosted by Mae Fah Luang University in Chiang Rai, Thailand. The Institute’s achievements highlighted both outstanding student satisfaction and exceptional staff success across tourism, hospitality and events education.

A Triple Win for Student Satisfaction

For the third consecutive year, the Institute achieved a #1 Premier Ranking. This year William Angliss Institute was awarded a #1 Premier Ranking for Meeting Academic Staff and Face-to-Face Orientation on the 2025 International Student Barometer and Student Barometer (ISBSB™) Student Satisfaction Survey.

The survey, conducted in partnership with Etio, gathered more than 76,000 responses from 148 global institutions. Student satisfaction was measured across more than 80 aspects of the student experience including Arrival, Learning, Living and Support. The Institute proudly stood among the top-ranking global members of THE-ICE – including César Ritz Switzerland, EHL Hotelfachschule Passugg and The University of the South Pacific (USP).

William Angliss Institute has been an active member of The International Centre of Excellence in Tourism and Hospitality Education (THE-ICE) since 2007.  It was established in 2004 by the Australian Federal Government to develop benchmarks and promote excellence in tourism, hospitality and events (TH&E).

Manager of Higher Education and Director of THE-ICE Andrew Dolphin said, "Angliss’ #1 ranking in the ISBSB survey and membership of THE-ICE confirm our place as Australia’s leading specialist centre for education in tourism, hospitality, events and foods. Our world-class education enables global recognition of our graduates."

Celebrating Research Excellence

William Angliss Institute continues to strengthen its global reputation for research and scholarship. Senior Lecturer Dr Kijung Choi and Associate Professor Dr Marcela Fang together with collaborators from leading Asian institutions were one of only two teams awarded a 2025 THE-ICE Research Grant Scheme (RGS) grant for their research paper titled Transforming Hospitality and Tourism Education Through Challenge-Based Learning.

Dr Choi presented the research paper at the conference with Dr Myla Medrano Loreto of Dusit Thani College, demonstrating the Institute’s leadership in future-focused education and showcasing the innovative pedagogy that Angliss students experience in their studies at both Bachelor and Masters levels.

Research is deeply embedded in the Institute’s learning environment where students gain hands-on opportunities to engage with innovative projects that strengthen their professional readiness and inspire new ideas for an evolving global sector.
