Free Apprenticeships for Under 25s

Free Apprenticeships for Under 25s offers fully subsidised training for more than 130 priority apprenticeships and traineeships in areas such as Hospitality and Food processing. The Queensland Government will cover the fees associated with your training with a training provider when you choose a high priority apprenticeship or traineeship. 

Free Apprenticeships for Under 25s will cover the cost of training for Queensland apprentices or trainees who commenced or are undertaking one of the high priority apprenticeships or traineeships from 1 January 2021 to 30 June 2027. 

The William Angliss Institute in Queensland offer the following courses for the Free Apprenticeships for Under 25s. 

Hospitality and cookery

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery - Apprenticeship

Meat and food processing

• Certificate III in Meat Processing (Retail Butcher) - Apprenticeship 

Am I eligible?

To be eligible, you must: 

• Be currently employed as a Queensland apprentice or trainee (under a training contract) in a high priority apprenticeship and traineeship qualification 
• Have commenced (or were already undertaking) your apprenticeship or traineeship between 1 January 2021 and 30 June 2027
• Be no longer enrolled at school
• Be aged under 25 
• Not exceed a maximum of two government-funded apprenticeships or traineeships within a 10-year period  

You must not currently be claiming funding under the Free Apprenticeships for Under 21s initiative.  

Fee-free training will only apply for units or modules commenced on or after 1 January 2021 and you must be employed as an apprentice under a training contract in one of the priority qualifications.

What does free apprenticeships mean?

Free apprenticeships means we will cover the cost of training, so you or your employer don't have to pay course fees. 

However, you might have to pay related costs such as uniforms, resources or travel to and from your training provider.
