Angliss Open Day 2023 Was Buzzing

What a fun day! Open Day at our Melbourne campus featured a range of activities, with more than 900 visitors welcomed by the Giant Chefs as they explored the campus.

Angliss alumni and students were on hand to inspire attendees. Back by popular demand, alumna Kitty Budiharjo of @kittybakes.melb wowed participants with her tips in decorating cupcakes with floral designs using buttercream. Winner of the Best New Product, developed while studying the Diploma of Food Science and Technology, alumna Mandeep Kaur gave out tastings of her mango lassi mix called MOM (Magic of Mom) while co-winner of the Victorian Patisserie Trainee Challenge, Holly Bailey-Tait shared her baking passion, having recently graduated from the Certificate III in Patisserie.

Along with cabin crew demonstrations, other activities included artisanal bread making, chocolate and sugar art, sausage making and cooking on the BBQ, plus masterclasses including Introduction to Sourdough, Mocktails Masterclass and Introduction to Chocolate.

Participants enjoyed new activities including, Beat the Travel Agent competition, The Art of Towel Folding masterclass and competition and a VIP tour of The Ritz-Carlton hotel.

Alumni hosted food truck Yo India nourished attendees alongside @wraprollit while Angliss staff served up a Home-made Sausage Sizzle, Gelato Tasting, Free wood-fired pizza prepared by Certificate III in Commercial Cookery students, Dilmah tea and Barista-made coffee.
From learning about our sustainable urban food space, the Angliss Rain Garden, used to teach students how to grow and use a variety of plants in their catering to study pathways from Certificate, to Bachelor or Master degrees at the Institute, there was something for everyone.
