- Participants are advised to wear flat, enclosed, rubber soled shoes for comfort and safety. To ensure food safety procedures are followed, long hair should be tied back and all unnecessary jewellery removed.

Food Safety Supervisor Course (SITXFSA006 – Participate in Safe Food Handling Practices)

Under Australian regulations, every food business must have a designated Food Safety Supervisor. This intensive one-day accredited course equips hospitality professionals with the skills and knowledge required to supervise safe food handling practices across all areas of food service.

As part of the training and assessment, participants will also engage in on-site observations at operational food premises.

Course Overview:

This unit covers the skills and knowledge needed to ensure food is handled safely during:

  • Storage

  • Preparation

  • Display

  • Service

  • Disposal

It is designed for individuals who directly handle food as part of their daily responsibilities. Roles may include:

  • Cooks and chefs

  • Caterers

  • Kitchen hands

  • Food and beverage attendants

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for: SITXFSA006 – Participate in Safe Food Handling Practices

Entry Requirements:

  • Student must have a USI number.
  • A sound understanding of written and spoken English is essential to undertake this course.

  • If you require assistance with language, a NAATI-accredited interpreter must be arranged by you and be present during the class.

  • Please inform us in advance if you plan to attend with an interpreter.

Important Note:

This course is intended for the hospitality sector (e.g., restaurants, cafés, catering operations, small food businesses). It is not suitable for the health or aged care sectors, including hospitals, aged care facilities, or other healthcare environments.
