Open Day leads to job as a tour guide for Angliss tourism graduate

After attending the William Angliss Open Day, Rachel decided to enroll in the Bachelor of Tourism and Hospitality Management after being impressed with what was on offer.

“I chose to study at William Angliss because it’s a smaller institute and more focused on learning the skills you really need to get the job you want.”

Rachel is now based in Melbourne where she works for Go West tours as a tour guide. She is involved in daily tours to the Great Ocean Road, Grampians, Philip Island and the Yarra Valley where her responsibilities are incredibly varied.

“I get to drive a bus and look after about 24 guests, making sure they have a memorable experience. I also help them get the best selfies.

“I love this job, my office can be exploring the rain forest in the Otway ranges, finding kangaroos in the Grampians or counting penguins at Phillip Island. I wouldn’t be anywhere else.”

Helpful for getting Rachel the right job, the degree also helped with networking and learning about industry jobs on offer.

“I also had the opportunity to obtain my Responsible Serving of Alcohol certificate and learn how to make coffee, “ further cementing the skills she has learned from Angliss to help her in her role as a tour guide.
