Events Students Experience Wedding Planning First-Hand

William Angliss Institute events students planned and delivered a successful summer wedding in Park Orchards in December.

Studying the Diploma of Events five students Alex Wiederman, Jessie Roden, Zoe Thornton, Emma Richards and Joanna Mortberg used the business name White Lily Events with some help from Nicola Russell.

“The ceremony and reception were held outside with a marquee in place to cover the dance floor and tables in case of bad weather,” student Joanna Mortberg said.

“The reception included canapés for 130 guests, acoustic music and a DJ to finish the night.

“With the help from Michael at Prestige Events we managed to transform a tennis court into a beautiful wedding reception covered in fairy lights and a great romantic vibe.

William Angliss graduate Kathleen Dunne made the wedding cake chosen by bride and groom.

“Our theming was rustic and romantic with the hardest part being sourcing styling to fit in our small budget. We were very lucky to have one of our team members working at Decor It and getting their support throughout this event,” Joanna said.

“We spent a lot of time and effort making sure the event wouldn’t be affected by bad weather. On the day it magically cleared up during the event and the rain only started just as the event was finished.

“As a student and part-time worker it's been really hard work for all of us but it all ended up with a great result, a happy client and we have all gained great experience,” Joanna said.
