Aviation students network with employer Altara

Aviation students relished the chance to meet with Altara CEO Alistair Dorward at the annual tourism and events speed networking event on 15 May.

Mr Dorward said that he ‘wished he could offer students jobs on the spot’.

The Certificate III in Aviation (Cabin Crew) is training designed to enhance a student’s opportunity to become a flight attendant.

The nationally accredited 18 week program focusses on improving customer service, food and beverage, and safety and security skill sets and knowledge to ensure these students’ applications stand out from the rest and also includes certificates in First Aid and Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA).

Program leader Tourism and Travel Corinne Maxfield said training is being delivered by trainers with extensive experience in the field

“We are working closely with Altara who currently employ flight attendants for a range of airlines in the preparation and delivery of this program,” Corinne said. The Altara Group is a professional recruitment, employment and people management organisation that incorporates a number of specialist aviation divisions from consulting and auditing through to training. Altara Chief Executive Officer Alistair Dorward said the program was of a high standard and would deliver graduates with a well-rounded set of skills. “Working together with William Angliss Institute we are providing industry with a new standard of highly capable flight attendants.”

Two successful nights of Speed Networking this week, saw 90 industry representatives at different stages in their careers, network with 130 students from different areas of study including foods, hospitality, tourism and events.
